Hafenklang, Hamburg
has been more than just a musician for two decades - he’s been a force of defiance, a voice that consistently shatters the confines of genre and convention. His music is a powerful fusion of punk’s raw edge, the introspective soul of indie folk, and the poetic rhythms of left-field hip hop. Influenced by the spirit of 1970s Latin American folk and the boundary-pushing jazz hop of 1990s Los Angeles, Ceschi’s sound speaks directly to those who seek truth in a world full of artifice. In 2021, he founded the project Codefendants with Sam King of Get Dead and the legendary Fat Mike of NOFX. The members see Codefendants not just as a band but as a movement called "Crime Wave," uniting voices from the punk and alternative hip hop worlds in a shared commitment to raw, unfiltered expression and the relentless pursuit of honesty through genre-bending, punk-centric music. In 2010, only months after releasing his album *The One Man Band Broke Up* with Berlin’s DJ Scientist, Ceschi was caught in a controversial marijuana bust that led to nearly three years in court and an eventual prison sentence. This could have marked the end of his journey, but instead, it became the crucible that transformed his art into something even more profound. Emerging from that darkness with a renewed sense of purpose, he channeled his pain and defiance into a decade of music that resonates with the restless and resilient. Albums like *Broken Bone Ballads* and *Sad Fat Luck,* crafted with prolific Canadian underground hip hop staple Factor Chandelier, have become anthems for those who refuse to accept the status quo and the divisions perpetuated by centuries of capitalist civilization.
